Off-Grid Deer / Bear Hunt in Roscoe, NY
About the Event:
Host Jeremy Kraus is inviting all Field Staffer’s for an off-grid deer & bear hunt in Roscoe, New York. It will be a 3-night, 3-day camping adventure in the cold of November. He has public area in the catskills scouted for whitetail. It is also notorious for black bears. Hopefully we can get a few to come out for this off-grid adventure.
Shelter will be leantos. No running water. Camp is one mile from trail head.
Start Date: November 9th
End Date: November 12th
Essentials would be warm gear as temps range from 10-50 degrees with possibility of rain or snow. Sleeping bags, hammocks, tarps, cooking utensils, kindling, ready made food, water purification.
If you plan on using your phone for GPS make sure you have battery power. Same for cameras. Plan on little receptions except at the top of the mountain. Walkie Talkies would be useful.
Camp in Roscoe, New York
I’ve been an active field staffer since fall 2017.
Summer 2018, I earned my M.S. in Aquatic Ecology and I currently work as a contracted fisheries researcher for USGS.
I spend most of my spare time outdoors. Starting this year, I will be one of New York’s newest hunting, fishing and boat/canoe guides.
My goal is to spend a fair amount of time as a guide blood tracking wounded deer.
Feel free to follow me on Instagram, and keep an eye out for updates on my future adventures.
