I had to be patient on this bird. I first heard him gobble at 6 AM, but he worked away from me soon after flydown. I stayed put and at 8:30 he circled back within earshot of me, but was hung up across a bottom. Leaving everything except my gun and mouth call, I slipped into his bubble, getting to sixty yards before making a call, and at 9:40 AM I called checkmate and ended the chess match at 45 yards. Definitely a morning for the books.
