This will be right before pheasant season opener and setting camp up the thursday before season opener for pheasant and ending the following Tuesday. This is hone to nebraskas eastern most trout stream. Also the trout hatchery is here along with the fossil beds a few miles down the road. But Saturday starts pheasant season but there are plenty of small game opportunities, as well as deer and turkey. It will be archery season here for deer if you wish to do that. Also plenty of opportunities for waterfowl as well. Its a great little area for a little bit of everything. And this is public land as well. So do be mindful of that when consider tags and licenses. But the lake itself is fed by verdigre creek and so if wish to fish the lake there are pike, bass, yellow perch, bluegill, crappie and catfish, too include rainbow and brown trout in the creek. I do not have a dog for retrieving birds but if you wish to bring one its is all good with me.
